Dolphins Sign WR Camarillo To Three-Year Extension

POSTED: 6:44 pm MST November 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Miami Dolphins have come to terms on a three-year contract extension with wideout Greg Camarillo, the team's leading receiver.

The Miami Herald reported Thursday that the Dolphins and Camarillo have agreed to a deal worth $6 million.

The move comes two weeks after running back Patrick Cobbs received a two-year contract extension.

"I've said it a million times so you guys know the line already, but these two guys have been the two most consistent players since we've walked through the door here," Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said. "They're the kind of people we want, so it was rewarding for us to be able to go out and get these guys and keep them around here for a little while and I think that they're excited about the whole thing and so are we."

Camarillo has 49 catches for 538 yards -- both tops among Miami receivers -- and one touchdown this season. This has been a breakout campaign for the Stanford product, who had eight catches for 160 yards and two scores last year for the Dolphins, his first with the club after a season in San Diego.

The Dolphins picked Camarillo up off waivers from the Chargers last season, and he worked his way up from the practice squad into a starting role.
