LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Lakewood police on Thursday identified the man they shot outside a Wal-Mart as a 6-foot-8 inch tall, 250-pound man.Shawn Patrick Brndiar, 33, grabbed a Taser from a female police officer and zapped her with it outside a Wal-Mart store, police said. When Brndiar aimed the Taser at a second officer, he shot the suspect, police said.Police were called to the Wal-Mart on Wadsworth Boulevard by security officers who said a suspicious person was outside the store. Security officers told police that they had to kick the man out, but have seen him in the store before.
When officers arrived, he assaulted the female officer, wrestled the Taser gun from her and then shocked her, police spokesman Steve Davis said.The female officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution. She was treated and released.Brndiar is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Brndiar will likely be charged with assault and resisting arrest and had outstanding warrants on driving with a suspended license. Brndiar pleaded guilty to assault and criminal mischief in 2005, according to court records.
