Perhaps following the scent of pepperoni-laced cash, a police dog helped Colorado Springs police track down three teenage boys suspected of robbing a pizza deliveryman.

The pizza deliverer called police around midnight Tuesday, saying he had been held up by gunpoint on South Chelton Road. When officers arrived, they called out a Colorado Springs Police Department K-9 to help.

"Rico" and his handler, Officer Troy Bauer, led investigators to a nearby apartment. There they found three teens who matched the description of the robbers, police said. The three were booked on charges of aggravated robbery.

After searching the apartment, officers found several items possibly connected to the case, including firearms that were believed to have been used in the robbery, police said.
