Charges Filed In Soldier Double Slaying Case
Iraq Vets Accused In June Slayings

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Felony charges have been filed against two decorated Fort Carson soldiers accused in a June double homicide. Police say 24-year-old Pfc. Jomar Dionisio Falu-Vives and 20-year-old Spc. Rudolfo Torres-Gandarilla killed two men while the victims were hanging garage sale signs at an intersection.Cesar Ramirez Ibanez, 21, and Amairany Cervantes, 18, died of gunshot wounds.
Falu-Vives faces 10 felony charges, including two counts of first-degree murder. Torres-Gandarilla is charged with two counts of accessory to murder. The charges were filed Monday. The suspects are due back in court for a preliminary hearing Sept. 29.Falu-Vives and Torres-Gandarilla served in Baghdad together with the 2nd Battalion of the 12th Infantry Regiment during the 2007 offensive to reclaim the city from insurgents. Both men were decorated with the Army Commendation medal.Three other former soldiers from the same battalion, Louis Bressler, Kenneth Eastridge and Bruce Bastien Jr., were charged late last year in the deaths of two Fort Carson soldiers.
