Woman, 67, Accused Of Stealing $8K From 98-Year-Old

BOULDER, Colo. -- Prosecutors said a 67-year-old woman stole more than $8,000 from a 98-year-old man who employed her as a secretary. Bonnie Gaye Sundance is accused of giving herself unauthorized raises, paid vacation days and overpayments and using her employer's federal tax refund to pay her own taxes. She faces 14 counts of felony theft from an at-risk adult.
Sundance pleaded not guilty on Thursday. She is free on a $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Boulder County District Court on Sept. 18 for a preliminary hearing. She faces 38 to 114 years in prison If convicted on all counts. The victim lives in a Boulder assisted-living center. Sundance lives in Nederland, 15 miles west of Boulder.
