DENVER -- Barack Obama is getting ready to put his stamp on the Democratic Convention.Sunday, he appointed his campaign’s political director, Matthew Nugen, as his designee to the DNC Committee.Political analysts say when Nugen arrives Monday as Obama’s representative, he’ll have the final say because Obama’s team will be in charge of the content of the convention, everything from the message to the music to the prime-time speakers.
"Obama will run this convention. Nothing will happen inside the Pepsi Convention Center that Barack Obama doesn't want to have happen," said Steve Welchert, a Democratic consultant who has advised the Obama campaign. “It’s Obama’s party, and he’ll make sure it looks like it should look.”Welchert said Obama’s team will also be helping with the convention fundraising concerns. Now that the primaries are over, he predicted that donors will devote more money to the convention.
