Gov. Sarah Palin has granted the traditional Thanksgiving pardon to a turkey, but the video that shocks some viewers captured what was happening in the background of her news conference. As she answered questions Thursday at Triple D Farm & Hatchery outside Wasilla cameras from the Anchorage Daily News and others showed the bloody work of an employee slaughtering birds.Triple D is the largest poultry supplier in Alaska, according to its Web site, and the only fresh turkey supplier.
Last year, Triple D sold as many as 50,000 head of poultry in Alaska, including 352 Thanksgiving turkeys, its Web site said. Most of the rest of the poultry sold was live chicks and processed meat chickens.
