DENVER -- In celebration of Earth Day, Whole Foods Market is no longer offering plastic bags to customers.

It can take 1,000 years for a plastic bag to break down. So Whole Foods Market hopes its customers will now reuse bags and keep them from going into the landfill.

"We encourage people to reuse any kind of bag. Whatever your style is, bring it in," said Natasha Calvert, a marketing director at Whole Foods Market Tamarac, in Denver.

So, the next time you go to the grocery store, take a bag and feel good about helping the environment. You'll also get a purchase credit for 5 cents per bag.
