ARVADA, Colo. -- There's a group of people in Arvada quietly making dreams come true for families throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. The driving force behind the operation is this week’s 7Everyday Hero, Homer Anderson.Ginny's Kids' volunteers is where dreams begin for hundreds of families. It's a foundation that provides free vacations for families of children facing a serious illness. The smiles and thank you's point to the program's success.Ginny’s Kids is named after Scott Creager's grandmother. Ginny loved children, and when she died of cancer, her family decided to help others in her memory.
Volunteer Homer Anderson is a familiar face at Ginny's Kids. He's been giving his time since the foundation started back in 1982. Since then Ginny's Kids has sent more than 280 families on dream vacations.Last year they sent seven families to Disneyland and helped send five families to Adams Camp at the YMCA of the Rockies."You work hard for three or four months and you get 15 minutes of smiles," Anderson said.To learn more about Ginny's Kids go to GinnysKids.org.
